Meeting Safely
Meeting new people for photography should be exciting, not stressful. Follow these guidelines to stay safe when attending meetups.
Meet in public places
Choose well-known, populated locations for your meetups. Avoid isolated areas, especially for your first meeting with someone new.
Tell someone
Let a friend or family member know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back.
Keep your phone charged
Make sure your phone has enough battery. You can share your live location with trusted contacts.
Arrange your own transport
Don't depend on someone you just met for transportation. Have your own way of getting to and from the meetup.
Start during daylight
For your first meetup with new people, choose a time during daylight hours when more people are around.
Protect your gear
Be mindful of your camera equipment. Don't leave gear unattended and be aware of your surroundings.
